This treatment is widely used by ear medical practitioners and is recommended by a group of Australian Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists.

Although it’s a bodily by-product that many of us would rather do without, earwax (or cerumen as it’s medically known) is actually vital in maintaining the health of your ears and plays a huge part in the ears self cleaning mechanism as it boasts both antifungal and antibacterial properties.

But like most things in life, too much of a good thing can be, well – not a good thing. Too much earwax can plug the canal and cause problems such as hearing difficulties, earaches, infection, ear discharge, ringing in the ear and general ear discomfort. A build up of excess earwax also leads to the irritating ‘water stuck in ear’ feeling we get when we spend time underwater, contributing to the symptoms of Swimmer’s Ear (Otitis Externa) and Surfer’s Ear (Exostoses).

The active ingredient in this product is hydrogen peroxide which is a natural cerumenolytic, meaning that it can soften, breakdown and dissolve excess earwax. Hydrogen Peroxide solutions can come in many different formulations each targeted to a specific use. Many contain additives, such as stabilisers, reducing the effectiveness of the solution for ear wax removal.

With the advice and assistance from chemists, pharmacists and medical experts, this unique solution uses a very low concentration (3%) of hydrogen peroxide to ensure there are no harmful effects. It is also a highly reactive form of hydrogen peroxide which makes it a very effective cerumenolytic. You will notice this reaction when adding the drops to your ear as you may hear a crackling or bubbling sound.

Although this treatment is recommended by medical experts, if in doubt consult your doctor to make sure it is suitable for your individual circumstances.
